We heard you, and we made a simple chart for you to refer to!

How long can breastmilk last at room temperature?

That’s a tricky question, it depends on where you live. In general, as stated by the Australian Breastfeeding Association for 26 Celsius or lower, breastmilk can last from 6-8 hours. However, if you’re staying somewhere that is hotter than 26 celsius, the time will be shorter.

Storing Breastmilk in Insulated Cooler

If you pump at the office, bringing bags of milk back home, during the time of traveling you can put the milk in an insulated cooler temporarily. Those insulated cooler bags really come in handy when you’re traveling, I personally think it is a must-buy!

Storing Breastmilk in the Freezer

It’s a good idea to store some of your milk in the freezer for emergencies. Keep in mind that in a negative 15-degree freezer, you can store your milk for around 2 weeks. If you wish to keep it for longer, consider investing in a deep freezer (-20 degree) so you can store it for up to half a year.

*It is best not to store milk at the doors, as the temperature is usually unstable, store at the back instead. This applies to the fridge and freezer.

Can I refreeze thawed milk?

No, never refreeze thawed milk. According to the CDC, you should use thawed milk/ milk brought to room temperature within 2 hours.

When handling breastmilk…

Don’t forget to wash your hands with water and soap before and after handling breastmilk! Wash your hands for at least 20 seconds.

Sanitise your bottles or any pumping equipment properly, prevent any contamination from happening.
